Great list I wish they had the arcade versions of Thunder Blade, Hang On, and Alien Storm in there. Sad

I just got this today when I got SF4, itching to try it out, I've beaten a lot of these games before (except Kid Chameleon that game is damn impossible), can't wait to see them on HD.

I'm lovin' this collection. I only had two gripes, the video isn't modified to fit your screen (you have to stretch it if it's 4:3) and a Genesis junkie like me could tell what sounds were changed in which games. Smile Other than that, this collection was killer. And oh yeah, WHY ON EARTH did they leave out Sonic & Knuckles linked into Sonic 3 when both games were on the disc!? Shocked

Oh lord I hate when they change up the sounds, it makes me just want to play the games emulated on a PC. I got an Atari controller thingy a few years back that plugs directly into your TV and the sounds were all changed around on Yars' Revenge it was heartbreaking.

Yeah, I know. I noticed a few weird sound changes on Sonic, or lack thereof where Sonic was rolling and it was SUPPOSED to make the rolling sound but didn't. They also changed Ecco's sonar sound in Ecco 2 which was really annoying. BTW, I really wish they would put a new Ecco game out on the PS3, it would be BEAUTIFUL.

Thought i should share with you what i have found while playing if you hit select and go to Video you can change from 4:3 to 16:9 also you can use Smoothing on games. So far i have tryed it on Sonic 2 and Golden Axe 2 and it works for them.

After playing this for a while, not too bad but...

You lose out on so many of the old games that it seems to make more sense to just play them emulated on a PC (using Gens (Genesis), Mame (Arcade), and Meka (SMS)). The only real benefit is the trophies and the ability to play them on your TV from a console.

I got spoiled a few years back to playing my old favorites on emus (Final Fantasy and Phantasy Star series games), and pushing the frameskip forward to speed up the game heavily which is perfect for grinding levels.

I do like though that some of the newer kids who are hardcore trophy whores get to see some games from back before everything was all about trophies and FPS games. It's good to see they included all 4 of the Phantasy Star series games and also Shining in the Darkness / Shining Force... wish they had put in Sword of Vermillion too that was a neat one (but wasn't too popular). I think it would have been cooler if they'd included all of the System 16 arcade titles (Quartet, Outrun, the arcade Bonanza Brothers, and the arcade versions of Alien Syndrome and Alien Storm). It was cool that they actually got in Space Harrier and Shinobi the original arcade versions though.

The trophy system is kind of a little bit odd too. Some games are really easy like the Streets of Rage one where you just beat the 1st level with all 3 characters, but other trophies like the 20,000 on Columns is waaaay harder for a bronze. I got 25% done in one night though, not too bad.

Just Platinum'd this one, this is a very easy Platinum (2 days!!!) except for the Mean Bean Machine game that was pretty difficult.

If you guys get stuck on some of the ones like the Streets of Rage (beat 1st stage with all characters), play all Genesis (or Arcade Titles), view all Artwork/Interviews, etc.. You have to do it all on the same play of the game. I had some problems getting a few to unlock until I realized this.

Wow thank you for that heads up! I definitely would have been scratching my head on this one.

http://www.ps3trophies.org is your friend... Oh yeah, and Dr. Robotnik's Mean Bean Machine is the only one that gave me trouble, it took me about 50 tries to beat Dr. Robotnik, if you're stuck look at vids on Youtube it shows you some good ways to set up multiple combos.
