Genji Days Of The Blade Review Empty Genji Days Of The Blade Review

Post  JamesSoprano Mon Mar 02, 2009 12:28 am

I am sorry for the delay of releasing this Review .. tho it is basicly a Copy and paste review from another website ( don't get me wrong i wrote the review but i posted it on PS3trophies .org first but just never really did another review for them after that since my English skills ( punctuation and spelling the incorrect way of words like their and there and the Spelling Error's ) and also mainly not many people cared for my review style, I just thought maybe i would put up the review for a Fresh Start to a new week. This Review is also Different then the Novastrike Review as you will soon see.

    Genji: Days Of The Blade

    Hello
this is my first ever written review and I thought it would be cool to do one of the first Playstation 3 games to be released which is also an Exclusive. I however did not get a Playstation 3 till Christmas of 07 and did not get this game (Genji: Days Of The Blade) till the Summer time of 08 for a really cheap price of $29.99 down the US. I just want to say, I have NEVER and I mean EVER played any Genji games in my life, I think their is only one other Genji game and that is for PS2 and as I said I have NOT played that game I bought the game for 2 reasons.

    1. I thought the Demo wasn't too bad

    2. It's a PS3 Exclusive

What's It About? (The Story In The Manual)
Three years have passed since the young swordsman, Yoshitsune Minamoto, and his warrior-monk companion, Benkei Musashibo, defeated the Heishi Clan and their leader in a brutal battle over the possession of " Amahagne " divine jewels that bring their owners godlike powers like Kamui. With success, it had finally seemed that peace, however temporary, had arrived.
During this time, Yoritomo Minamoto, Yoshitsune's older brother and leader of the Genji clan, tracked the remnants of the Heishi to the south of Japan where he and his army were preparing to eliminate their weakened numbers. However, rumors have begun to spread of new, ungodly creatures appearing within the Heishi ranks and their evil force re-strengthening, even without the use of Amahagane.
Now, with the aid of his closest friends and some unlikely allies, Yoshitsune must once again wield his fierce blades and summon the powers of the amahagane in an epic battle to save all Japan.

    Gameplay - 2.5/5
The Camera View Is a Real Piece Of Work, why is that you ask? Cause IT DOESN'T EVEN
WORK !!!!!! THEIR IS NO CAMERA MOVEMENT IT'S JUST ONE VIEW, it's soo annoying that you don't know what's going on around you most of the time or at least in a fight with a group of enemies, sure you can look at the map in theory too see if a enemy is behind you but that's if it's a small room but if it's a bridge.. You can't see on the other end UNLESS you walk down to the other end and if an enemy happens to have an attack that can ( for example ) shoot blue flames in your direction .. You’re screwed! Cause the camera is fixed on one direction so the best tactic is to go to the end of the bridge and watch the enemy for what ever he is doing. I have to say the game reminds me of Onimusha in some ways except Onimusha was a WAY BETTER game, for instance their is a bar for a special attack called Kamui that you fill by getting it or hitting enemies and once it's full you can pull off the attack which pretty much leads too button pressing games and if you press the wrong button it ends just like that so it's good not to mess up, also their is things you collect to add on too your health and or Kamui Bar and you collect Mashogane from certain enemies which look like Purple Crystals stuck on or inserted in enemies and when you attack a group of enemies without being hit and keep the chain going the more Mashogane you get to upgrade your weapons power.

    Graphics - 4.5/5
The Characters in the game were pretty well made for one of the first Playstation 3 games it didn't look cheap at all. The Scenery in the game is not too shabby but for one of the first games for PS3 then it was well done.

    Music - 2/5
The music in the game is either awfully annoying or O.K. for example, their is one song they use over and over throughout the game where it seems like a bunch of Japanese guys are saying a specific word and it sounds really really weird and funny but get's annoying after you first hear it and the word is either ta or ja or da and it goes a little something like this ( ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, tatatatatatatatatatatata then insert really high pitched Flute sounds here ) at least I think it's a Flute ( I have to say when I first heard this I thought it was funny and I would go along with it cause it sounded funny, that after playing the game getting more frustrated it the part of the song became annoying ) ... if you like the old style Japanese music ( the kind you may find in a really really old Kung Fu Movie ) you may just like it .. If not, then it's best to just mute it. ( Actually I can't really say if it's part of Japanese Music or not )

    Replay - 1/5
If you play this game and complete it I doubt most will ever go back to play it. Unless their die hard fans perhaps but I for one .. ( Even though I am about half way through the game or little over halfway ) will not pick it back up to play but will keep it for the collection.

    Overall - 5/10
ok this game is Mediocre for me I mean its mind numbly annoyingly bad. But I’m over looking it and I just made it to the last part of the game .. You will either love it or hate it or just plain like it.

I suggest to you the Readers, DO NOT BUY THIS GAME STAY AWAY FROM IT RENT IT FIRST OR BORROW IT FROM A FRIEND WHO MAYBE ASHAMED OF BUYING IT OR DOWNLOAD THE DEMO! If I could give it a review of controller breaking ... I would rate it a 9/10 controller breakings. I mean I can get mad and annoyed at games with stupid flaws as what this game bares in game play but it seems to be taking it over the top. Wanna know what you can do with the $30 for the game ? go and buy a loved one a gift or take them to a movie or you can donate to charity or maybe you can Frame it and hang it on a wall ... BETTER YET .. dig a hole and bury the money and see if a money tree will grow or you can save it for another game or maybe put it towards gas if you drive a car, but as I said if you wanna try it rent it or download the demo unless you played the first Genji and this one is exactly like that one then by all means go for it .. But don't say I didn't warn ya.

I would like comments and or feedback .. do you like this style of writing or my other style with the Swearing and such approach i took with Novastrike ?

yea man i would rent it if i were you .. i haven't even completed the game ... i'm at the end and i am F*cking stuck cause all enemies do is block and when i try whatever i can to kill them they all gain up on me and like ... Rape me and kill me at the same time LOL .... but really tho it's annoying cause i have NO IDEA what too do to break their blocks and kill the enemies .. the character i use to use i can't use ( don't wanna ruin anything but all i can say is i can't use the specific character who i used alot ) The Demo should still be available on the Playstation Network but of not i can see why as the game is that bad LOL
